Discrepant Events and Science Websites

Chief Martin showed us many different attention grabbers! He showed us how ketchup floats up and down in a full water bottle, how a tube can roll forwards and then begin to roll backwards, and how pulling lines of a string through a tube could lead to different strings becoming shorter that you wouldn't have expected!

Here are my own discrepant events I turned in for he assignment where 5 discrepant events were to be listed. The one I shared with the class was the "skewer through the balloon" experiment.

***Explanation for one of the discrepant events Mr. Martin showed us: Mystery Tubes for exploring the Nature of Science can be made of mailer tubes or PVC pipe using rope.  Less sturdy but easily made mystery tubes can be made with paper towel rolls and yarn knotted at the ends.   The ends of the tube are sealed with non-transparent tape.  No peeking inside allowed.

We also talked about how it is helpful to incorporate science websites in your classroom. We had an assignment to find 5 different science websites that would be good to incorportae in the classroom. These are the ones I found!
